Seattle/Eastside area get together for local builders?

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in so feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place...

I was thinking of putting together a gathering of local builders in the Seattle area where we can all bring our proud and not so proud builds and show them off to each other and talk some shop over a few beverages. Let me know if your interested and Ill start making up a list and find a place for this to happen. I'm thinking somewhere in the Bellevue area, maybe a bar or someones shop if they want to host.

Twizz and the Head Monkey have expressed some interest in getting everyone together so let's see if we can make it happen! If it works out, maybe we can make it an annual thing.

Is Elliott Bay Brewery in Lake City central enough?

Looks like its just the three of us so far. Twizz is in Kenmore, I'm in Fall City. Holm are you in Shoreline? If so, Kenmore area seems like a good place. Is the Tap Room still there on the Lake? Twizz do you know? I haven't been to Kenmore in a long time.

Holm, did I ride up High Campbell with you a couple weeks back and we talked shop for a bit?

OK so it sounds like we have 5 or 6 of us interested so lets see if we can get something going. Mike when you in town? We need your expertise at this... how can we have the First Annual PNW Builders Convention without the Head Monkey? Just think, if this works, 5 years from now we'll be having it at the convention center with folks from all around coming to see the incredible builds everyone is up too.

Sounds like folks are coming from all over the area so what do you all think about the Roanoke in Mercer Island? Seems like a fair central location and its a great place if you've never been there. If we can agree on a place, Ill call ahead and get some space reserved. I would love to see everyone bring a build or two so we can take a look at them and see what others are doing. If you don't have a build ready, no worries, come and learn.

I'd be down to meet up. First post but have been building skis and lurking on the forum for several years. It'd be great to meet up with some fellow builders. Anywhere around the seattle area works for me.

There's also Pete Morgan (pmoskico). I'll send him a message, he's in Tacoma I think?

I'd be all over this if there was snow somewhere between here and there to justify a ferry bill. Maybe next year at the second annual...

For April I'm traveling 4/14-4/17 for sure, probably 4/9-4/10 as well. I'm never gone Saturdays and Sundays.

How about a Sunday afternoon so traffic is light for everyone to get there. Ill throw April 26th or May 3rd out there for starters. Roanoke Tavern on Mercer Island is a cool place and shouldn't be too busy then. Great bar if you've never been there and they have a nice outdoor area if the weather is nice. Once we get a date and a head count, Ill call ahead and see if I can get the back room reserved.

Either of those dates work for me, the 3rd is probably better.

We aren't meeting up for skiing!

But the lifts are still running for the next 2 weekends. Headed to White tomorrow unless Crystal gets a better dump. Game time decision. Looking forward to meeting everyone, hopefully we can make the 1st Annual PNW Builders Convention happen, even if it is just a few of us. If anyone is heading to White or Crystal tomorrow, let me know and maybe we can hook up for a few turns.

While we live in Microsoft land, I don't know if were that cool to make this happen via Skype or other methods right now. Ill take some pictures to post and my hope is that this movement grows over time. Maybe someday we can broadcast live but for now I'm just happy to get a few of us together to shoot the shit. Ill take notes and let everyone know how the discussion goes. Thanks for all of your support.

You guys might know this. When I was in Fremont at the start of the month ( on holidays from Australia) I saw that Mervin MFG had an office there. It was after 5 on Saturday so i didn't explore and went to the brewery instead...

My question, is that offices or a factory? I was thinking about trying to get a look in the door but we left on the Monday.

The 9th would actually work out way better for me now. I have a flying seminar thing down in Renton from 10-12 that day, then I can go fly for a little bit before we meet up on Mercer Island.

I'm glad you guys had a good time. I'm sorry I missed it. Honestly, I just completely spaced on it. I think I was doing yard work instead, and didn't remember until today. Pro move, I know.

We talked about trying to get together twice a year - once in the summer to show off new builds or just BS about shop projects, then once (or more) in the winter to actually ski/ride.

I somehow fell off the response notification from this thread and missed the gathering. I figured it didn't come together.

If there's talk about getting together every 6 months would folks be interested in getting together in January?

Absolutely! I ran into Don (Rym) at Alpy last Friday, but we didn't do any runs together. Would love to get together and ride (my preference would be Alpy, just because I'm selfish and that's my mountain

)

I'm heading to Alpy tomorrow morning before work. It should be awesome this week. Weekends I usually go to Crystal as it handles the crowds better.

I'm in for finding a time this month to get together, should we try and line up a day? My local spot is Alpy but Ill travel if others want to do it somewhere else.

I'm game for meeting up this month and wouldn't mind meeting at Alpy. Ill be free most days after the 15th. If others can shake free of work I like going on weekdays to avoid the crowds...
