:: View topic - Advice on a cat track

Hey guys,

I have followed the directions almost exactly that are on the ski builders website. Of course, we have had 1 or 2 small additions to it along the way, but that's not the point. We are about 1 or 2 weeks away from layup on our first pair of skis, and I have started to read all of the forums a lot more. As I look into it, a lot of people talk about using a cat track. I understand the concept of it, I am just wondering if it is necessary. For a first time builder, do you think we could skip getting a cat track for our first few pairs, or should we go ahead and try to make/buy one? One more question concerning a cat track: in the press, does it go below or above the ski itself?

It isn't necessary. But if you don't use one be sure you have adequate coverage of your bladder to make sure the laminate gets enough pressure everywhere.
