Okay, so the skis im building have a lot of rocker. they are a symetrical park ski 111-88-111. I want to be able to butter and all that fun stuff. Jumps at local mountains only get as big as 45 footers so being super stiff for landings isnt totally necessairy. i have 22oz triaxial fiberglass. Should i be putting one layer above and below the core or two layers along with the two foot section under the bindings? All comments and advice appreciated!
One layer on top, one layer on bottom.
Two layers would be seriously overkill, and give you very heavy skis.
If you want to increase stiffness, do it with either uni carbon fiber, or make your core thicker. A tiny increase in core thickness will have huge changes to bending stiffness.

Hey, I'll be pressing my first snowboard soon and I'm wondering if the same thing applies, will 1 layer on either side of the core be enough?
I'd cry if it broke, so before I saw this I was planning on doubling up...

If you're using like 10oz cloth? Sure double it up. If you're using ~20oz or there abouts like most of us, no. It won't break unless you don't use enough resin and end up with dry fibers.
Sorry Broski. I looked through the front page and as I would expect, no concrete answers are given. I build longboards so I know how it goes, that you'll have to try your lay-up to see how it turns out.
