I am new to this website and I build snowboards. I think this website needs just a bit more. It need a how to section. The how to section needs to consist of how to guides only. No questions or anything strictly guides. This would be much more easy to navigate. Also I suggest making a separate ski and snowboard section.

Yes but a section where people post their own guides, then on that guide they can ask the writer questions.

That's basically what the forum is. People post their successes, and their failures, we all bicker and argue over who is right and wrong, and eventually have come up with some "standard practices" most people generally follow. I don't think we need special sections for this, it's redundant. You just need to spend the time reading through the forum, it's all there.

I'm also not cool with segregating snowboard and ski building. The processes are identical, and we're all a happy family. Even if you knuckle draggers are in my way 90% of the time on the mountain

How does the out box function work in the PM section? Does stuff stay in there till the recipient logs on and reads your PM you sent them? Is it so I can tell if the recipient has read the PM?

Lots of threads to delete on here and users to eliminate.

Either that or there are just a lot of builders who fund their hobby with a job as a mobile phone salesperson or movie reviewer.

When I did my backup forum experiment (now shutdown because skibuilders has been going well) I used phpBB3 which has a lot less trouble with spam. There are a lot of threads on the php forum about stopping spam. I found the most effective method to get rid of spammers was to make it compulsory to answer a multi-choice question when registering (along with the captcha word entry - auto spam programs can break this now I think). The question should be related to ski/snowboard

eg. Who is the father of rocker skis? then have 3 different possibilities to fool the spambots.

I think the main trouble is that this is only possible in phpbb3 and as our forum is running on php original I think it has been around a long time and the spambots have it sussed out.

I don't know about the upgrade to phpbb3 - shouldn't be too hard though I think.

who is the rocker father? Shane Mcconkey, Steven Drake or Gene Simmons? haha...

Yeah man, I delete them as soon as I see them. Unfortunately I'm only a moderator, not an admin, so I can't delete user accounts (I don't think?). And I'm not a moderator of some of the forums, like the for sale forums, so I can't delete those posts/threads.

The worst part is that Kam has nobody as a moderator of the commercial for sale forum! It's a free for all!
