What could a free-lance CAD/AutoCAD engineer earn, self-employed, and doing work for oil/energy companies? I am 19, looking to do an HNC in CAD (computer aided design) next year and was thinking, because all my brothers work in the oil/energy industry I could work for the oil/energy industry as a free-lance AutoCAD engineer. What I want to know is what could I expect to earn doing this from home free-lance?

You are in the completely wrong forum. Regardless, I don't know how much a freelance AutoCAD drafter could make, but it may be tough to get into freelance with experience in the field. As a starting M.E. working in oil and gas you can expect to make 50-75k + benefits.
