Im working on a report regarding materials used in the core. I can see that wood is most common but Im going to investigate the possiblities of changing it to another type by using the cambridge engineering selector. What is the most important properties to consider and what types of materials can be suitable? I can see that Goode are using carbon fibre and I was thinking about investigating that. I am a newbie on this area so any tips will be very helpful. Thanks

Goode is using foam as core material (maybe Airex ?).
Hi, i just have a simple question, is the hdpe the same as uhmwep?
And how wide should be the layer for the correct flexion?
Thanks.
Yes I believe so, hdpe=high density polyethylene, uhmwpe = ultra high molecular wheight polyethylene. Pretty much the same thing.
what was that last question? Are you talking about thickness? standard bases are 1,2-1,5 mm thick. The thickness of the base don't affect on the total stiffness. (the core does)
They're similar but not exactly the same. In UHMWPE the polymer chains are significantly longer than in HDPE. Since plastics are a little more variable manufacturer than say alloys with specific proportions of metals, which have standards, I'm not sure how different UHMWPE and HDPE actually are, and I couldn't quickly find a great reference.
But generally [I think] UHMW and HD have similar tensile strengths, but UHMW has much higher impact resistance and is actually slightly lighter since the longer chains force a less "crystaline" structure. Well that's what wikipedia said.
I think either would work fine for sidewalls or tip spacers.
I am trying to get quotes for tooling, but I want stainless edges, and get them in uncut rolls. Anyone interested? I will post back when I have a quote but I figure the more we can split the tooling cost the better. I am in the US, Mass to be exact.
You've got my ear, what sort of quantity and prices are you thinking?
That sounds like something I could definitely be interested in. Keep us informed.
let us know the details when you can.
We might be interested in getting some....if you can find them.
I'm interested as well, If you get any prices and infe feel free to contact me
