30-45 minutes of STRESS, and then complete relaxation once it's in the press. Anticipation until it's out, and then either relief or disappointment. Definitely an emotional roller coaster ride.

Ha, well put. You could go through an entire set of emoticons waiting for a ski/board to cure.

by the time every board is in the press im stressed / pissed at something i could have done better

Some times I freak out when I take them out.... It's like Christmas.... "Is it a great present or a bag of coal" . Yeah I'm always second guessing... maybe I should have wet out the FG better.. Is the core going to shift, veneer top sheet going to crack... and it's either Tah-Dah or Oh shit!

Whew...what a gamut of emotions. There are things to improve, probably always. Not bad for the second board with all new equipment and processes though. Fun day haha, thanks all of you for all you've helped me with.

Yeah, the flex is like,uh,a race board. I had read what DBS said in another thread about breaking his 162cm and went heavier on the core because I can break about anything, so like 7mm center, 8mm underfoot, maple stringers with poplar and a standard camber. That, with CF top and bottom and the fiberglass made this stiff. Really stiff. It'll be a point downhill and GO...not really "playful" if you would. I doubt I'll ever make another like it.

I did the graphics in Illustrator and photoshop, the topsheet material is pbt from isosport. I built a dye sublimation press, and am using an epson 4880 with the sawgrass dye sublimation inks, then pressing the 2 together for 25 minutes at 25lbs pressure at 275 degrees. The lower temp for subbing seems to be a MUCH crisper line in all. I had a couple of issues in the board press,blah blah blah,the edges/base came out great and everything bonded just perfect

. The sidewall router scares the holy s@#t out of me.

Had a great day today, for all of you buried in snow, I was out on a 42' grand banks today in the middle of Coronado Bay watching the naval air show. Wow. I'd have rather been boarding though, but still...

Nice. Is that a standard non backed veneer with a heavy spray 2 part poly?

It is just a standard smooth backed veneer, with a combination of 2 - 2 part automotive polys in a 6 to 8 coat finish. If you get ridden up on inline, it's deep enough that you can just polish it out...with the guys face (haha). I have some Paulownia that actually has a metal layer under the veneer I'm going to try next, I like that concept a lot. I've tried a couple of water based polys that are hard as hell, but they don't finish as bright and the fast dry times/pot life have made the gun cleanup a real PITA.

Been awhile since I've posted here...been building IOTS (items other than snowboards). 7mm underfoot 6.5mm center out to 1.2mm tips, red birch and poplar core. 8oz biaxial carbon fiber top with 19oz triaxial for the base. I used entropy systems CPS on this, 1 hour at 180f at 85lbs pressure, UHMW sidewalls and Electra 2000 high carbon racing base. The topsheet is cherry, sapele, maple and walnut inlays, final weight was 7lb 2oz. Pretty stoked, the fit was really great and the flex is exactly what I wanted. Going into production on this, cut files are done, drawings are done, tooling is made...there will be a couple of changes in the inlay graphic, nothing major. A heartfelt thanks to the builders on this board, I could never have done this without the support, info and inspiration here on SB. Thank you!

btw, aren't 1.2mm in the tips too thin? i get very soft tips with anything under 2mm.

. I got some bubbles from somewhere, not sure wtf...I have no idea. I figured it out, total pieces with topsheet =116. Seems like way too many...

162cm 7.8 underfoot to 2.3 tip and tail. 8oz carbon fiber with 12oz unidirectional over the tip and tail damping systems, with a nod to Huck for the backseat powder inserts. Did 'em. Thanks. Easy. Haven't base ground yet, weight at this point is 6lb3oz, I expect it to be <6lb when finished.

So true. Renting is tough because you waste a lot of time setting up shop only to move again. Gotta do what you gotta do. Vacbagging the carbon top sheet right now with a hair dryer for heat.

Thanks! That's the sanding and layup room. Then there's a small machine and press room and gloss coats happen inside the house.
