An automatic login feature would be nice like most other forums have.
:: View topic - Automatic Log-in feature.
Your browser should provide that feature.
I believe this was turned off on the forum due to SPAM problems.
I use Google Chrome myself and it stores my login details on the login page.
I use Google Chrome as well. It saved my login and password but it doesn't log me in automatically.
I've also tried it will Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Clear your cookies, or just the cookies from this site.
I use Firefox, and if I will use this function, I can switch it on and off in the preferences. It must be the same in Chrome.
Then exit and restart the browser
LAZY!
Well normally I wouldn't care but the problem is this. If I post something and check the box "Notify me when a reply is posted", I'll get an email notification the first time there is a reply. But I won't get any future emails because when I click the link to the thread, it doesn't recognize that I'm logged in.
And in the email there is the statement that says "You can use the following link to view the replies made, no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic.". And since it doesn't know that I visited the topic I don't get any new emails notifying me of new responses.
It's not a big deal but it'd be a nice thing to have. Summitpost.org had the same issue. But as soon as they updated the site to a more recent revision of PHP code I found myself using the site much more.
I've tossed my cookies...... but in a very long time
That's a different story, an update might be the answer? I've never used the function so I don't know. In the future...
I've got an issue that's a little different than the title but didn't want to start a new thread.
Last week I wiped out my computer and reinstalled winxp.
Downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0
Now I have to log in twice.
I log in the first time, my name shows up as logged in, but I can't post anything. I have to log in again!
Then it doesn't show what posts are new.
I've tried clearing cookies, refreshing my browser, reinstalling firefox, to no avail.
It's driving me nuts (well kinda nuts anyway) because I have to check the dates of all the posts or just re-read them.
I can't just click on the link to read the new post. Having to scroll thru the page to find something I haven't read.
Any thoughts?
sam
Just to give a quick update. I found the original source of my problems is my work ISP. It has trouble staying logged in. Sometimes I would have to log in 5 or 6 times in a row before I could make a post. I've never had the issue reoccur on my home computer or my phone. For reference I use Chrome.
Sammer- Does the problem keep occurring on other browsers such as Chrome or IE?
I had the similar login issue that showed no posts. I found that i kept logging into skibuilders.com not www.skibuilders.com. apparently it makes a world of difference.
I have a bookmark for http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/login.php and chrome auto filles the user / pwd, and now i never have to log in twice or get the 'no new posts'
Yup, www. made the difference.
I didn't even notice it was missing from the url until you mentioned it.
thanks
sam
Hey the www worked for me too.
While I'm not 100% sure but I haven't had an internal server error message since I added the www .
Could be a coincidence. Will have to wait and see.
