I'm going down to Innsbruck some week (when the snow arrives) to buy materials. What more than Friedrich deutsch, IMS and Isosport makes ski/SB materials there (or nearby?) Anywhere I can get M6 inserts? Some ski/snowboard builders from there want to show me their factory? That would definately be very nice!
:: View topic - materials in Innsbruck++
Hi Endre,
did you contact Isosport and Deutsch before? I asked them for materials about half a year ago and they told me that the minimum quantities are 200m rolls!
Do you travel via Munich - maybe we can arrange a meeting to talk a little bit about ski building?
Probably I will be in Neustift (Stubai) on the 19-20 nov and in Innsbruck on the 21st. If are around that time I would join you.
shure! Munich is kind of hard to avoid driving there from Norway by car.
(maby I go during ISPO 29th of january, or earlier)
I plan to buy 65 kg. of steel edge, and lots of topsheets, so if you want to split some of it you'r welcome to! I have a lot of basematerial, but need some more in a while.
you were a bit quicker than me there davide... I haven't planned going down there as quick as that, but maby! I'l let you know.
With 65Kg of edges you can make enough skis for all the norwegians...
I will be there for the Telemark-Festival.
Yes that would be great!
Actually 65 kg of edge. is 150 pairs of skis, which would last for many years for me and my friends.
Endre, i'm realy interested in Topsheets and thick base material/edges (2mm). I've only got regular base and edges in 1,2mm. So if you can share some for 2 or 3 pairs of ski it would be wonderfull.
Meeting in Munich would be a great thing - just let me know when you arrive!
Stubai is on my plans for November too - just waiting for the snow!!
I tryed getting 2mm. bases once to, pretty unpossible, they seldome make it, and I doubt it is a big point using so fat bases. But i have 110metres of 150 x 1,5mm in Oslo. I could bring some of it if you want.
That's strange - many companies (Vlkl, Atomic,...) use 2mm bases for there Freeride Skis - so there should be something on the market. As far as i understood Isosport they can provide individual strenth of base material. Minimum amount is a 200m roll (about 200 EUR).
A thick base becomes interesting for me when i will use expensive materials like carbon fiber. Contact with rocks is unfortunately a common thing when freeriding
let's find out and buy some Alex, we ca split a roll. The woman at IMS told me 1yr. ago they didn't have it, but maby it was just because I'm such a small fish. The thickest they could make for me was 1,5. I'm definately interested in everything that is extravagant and out of every proportion
Hi endre and alex, i am very interested in spliting some edges and base materials (and topsheets) too! We are from Czech Republic and it was such a pain in the ass to get edg&base for only five pairs...it sucks...So, if you dont mind, can we go with you?
btw, no problem for us to drive to innsbruck, I was on hintertuxer gletscher two weeks ago for some early skiing and it was great!! Let the powder come....
btw, endre, about the inserts...we were finally able to get some 8 mm M6 from one small snb manufacturer here in czech, but it was only limited quantity...they told us that they are making them by their own...I almost believe that NOBODY in our good old Europe offers some kind of standart inserts...sh..t
so, pls, let us know about the hard-to-get mats!
I will get in touch wis isosport again and let you know what they can offer.
Making their own inserts? That sounds very strange.! There are so many large scale snowboardmanifacturers in europe, they can't all be making their own inserts!
Yeah, I know, I had the same feelling when I heard it.....
I am looking for some fire hose. Everyone in my area only seems to have new fire hose which runs around $235.00 for the smallest section of 25'. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

i remember someone mentioning of a fiberglass that could be directly printed on using a normal computer printer. but my endless search of the forum has turned up nothing. whoever that person was can you please post up some info about the fiberglass again? thanks!
Here I am.
It is a A4 sheet of fine fiberglass, they are called "Copier card webs" (Kopier-Vlies in German). You can find them at www.swiss-composite.ch and www.r-g.de. Ten sheets cost 6.80 euros.
I bought 4 sheets but I have not yet used them. I should make a test soon.
This is the catalog description:
"Copier card webs, white
Suitable for laser and ink-jet printers as well as photocopiers, these
webs let you design and print out your own ratings plates, safety
labels, and product IDs, easily and economically, without the urgent
need to order large print runs.
The web labels are simply copied and laminated when needed
absolutely counterfeit-proof and so ideal for the reliable identification
of your products, e.g. with respect to cheap imports.".
There is a stuff called "copyfleece" used by surfboard builders. I think it's the same stuff Davide mentioned. It's a none woven glas fiber material available in sheets or rolls. I know this supplier:
thanks guys!
I got answer from Isosport:
They can offer us a 100m roll of 2mm*300mm extruded base material in black or blue. It will cost 350,- EUR. The Factory is in Eisenstadt.
For me alone this is way to much - i would take about 20m.
Additionally we will need 2mm edges - don't know if Deutsch offers some!?
What do you think?
I'd be happy to take your "leftovers"...anything between 10 and 30 mtrs. is fine
Deutsch have it, but I'm not shure if they have it in stock right now (they didn't have stainless now). Anyway, I will take about 50 m (black). I think I will be down there in end of january (Ispo)
I'll ask the deutsch guys.
Great guys, I can take like 10 - 20 m, black...
Rasi, if endre and Alex would take 70 m, we can split the rest... ?
OK great - than we've got enough people together to share the material. If endre has success with the 2mm edges we can go for it.
Does somebody has the chance to pick up the material at the factory - this will save the shipping costs....
They have 2,5mm. edge in stock (for 2mm. base), just to go and get it. They want an extra 85,-EUR charge for less than 2 coils orders though. one coil is 1200m. / 65 kg. They want 6,40EUR/kg. I need both 2mm. and 2,5mm. edges, so I would need 2 coils anyway.
I also need some topsheet, duratop or something. Couldn't we ad some of that to the base order?
Endre - i'll give you the contact i have from Isosport (PM). I think it's easier when you ask for the topsheets yourself. Of course you may refer to my request and the offer they made.
Great that you managed to get some 2,5mm edges!
hmmm....i can have some topsheets as well...
like 10 - 20 m of 300 mm? I don't care about the colour...that much
and thanks for the 2,5 mm edges endre, good job...can I add my humble amount of 40 m..?
Shure charlie. I will buy enough. top, not cap for you right?
Yep, topsheet....
Hals told me about this thread, because i was looking for cheap topsheets
i had already some meters of ICP 4140 / 4160 from isosport and i think its great, but they are only selling 200m rolls
the cost will be about 7€/m
so now i'm interested in about 15m of ICP 4140
it would be great if there are enough people for a 200m roll
ps: i'm living in munich, too so if its on your way...
Hi mp. I'm Hals (split persolality) I just wrote back at Graf that i would like to have about 60 m of it. Maby we should do the whole discussion back there so we don't have to write everything twice.
Have any of you found good deals on stainless, seamless (rolls) edges? The one place I can find is http://metalldeutsch.com. However, they want me to have a Euro tax ID, charge for a small order (300kg is small!!!) and it is going to be a pain to deal with. Thanks!
I tryed asking for that a month ago, the next time they make stainless is late summer 2006. Let's buy some then.
the tax number they ask for is just a normal organization number (or whateverit's called)
ok in grafs forum 130m are reserved yet
is there more interest?
if theres more demand it will be a cheaper price
I also need some base/topsheed material.
Is there a list where the different products you are ordering are writen down?
For some reason, I'm not able to read that out of the postings *g*
Maybe I'm stupid
Greetings from Germany
Alex
hi
i'm only ordering one produkt
it's the ICP 4140 topsheet from isosport
the price is 6,50€/metre
as far as endre aka. hals will agree with prepayment(i don't wanna lay out the whole money) i will order
Sorry about being off topic, but I had some questions about skiing around Innsbruck and I figured some of you guys would be good people to ask. You can answer over at this thread. Thanks.
Hi guys; Im spanish and its very hard to find some materials here. Im looking for base and topsheet (i would prefer it opaque but i dont mind if its clear). If you would share some of your 2mm base with me I would also need 2mm edges too (i can only get 15 mm edge). If one of you could send me the materials by mail it would be really good for me. I dont mind if i have to send the money before, ok?.
Otherwise, Im thinking about using abs sidewalls, fixing them to the core before profiling but actually I havent been able to get the abs yet. Should I make the effort to find it or do you recommend me any other way to make the sidewall?. Anyone of you could help me about this?.
Thanks.
hi endre
can you please confirm your order
i send you a pm at hrafs but you didn't answer
please preply as fast as you can...
